The Gift of the Window

“Best keep yourself clean and bright; you are the window through which you see the world.” George Bernard Shaw

So many days I’ve watched Sassy looking out the window, and I’ve wondered what she sees. Does she see the beauty I see? What is she thinking?

We add so much color to our experiences, don’t we? Our thoughts and feelings have such an impact on how we see life, creating a filter of sorts. There’s the person who sees the world through “rose colored glasses” as well as “the glass is half empty” person. The two of them could be looking at the same artwork, person, situation, or experience and having vastly different opinions on its beauty.

What does your window look like? Are you letting it get dirty? Are you letting the dirt stay there and obstruct your view or are you cleaning it regularly? Are you choosing to stay completely in the dark with closed curtains or do you open them up every day to let the light inside?

It all starts with the window; it all starts with you. You are the lens through which you see the world.
