The Gift of Being Yourself

What’s the one thing you have to offer the world that no one else has? The one unique thing you have to offer is you. Be you! Always be you; everyone else is taken. I drive by this house almost daily, but for some reason, the other day, that bright pink door spoke to me. The bright pink door, in a neighborhood full of white, brown, and khaki colored doors, says unapologetically, “I am who I am, and that’s ok.”

I think sometimes we get so caught up going through the motions, doing what everyone else is doing, that we forget we are free to express ourselves however we see fit and do whatever our heart desires. If we want to paint our front door or our whole house bright pink, we can!

A lot of Christians fall into this monotony, doing what everyone else is doing, living the way they were brought up to. God calls us to have a mind of our own, operate in our own unique gifts and talents, and live out the Gospel in our daily lives. We are not called to attend church once a week, then forget about God the rest of the week. Christianity is not about religion; it’s about a relationship with Christ.

I hope this inspires you the way it did me. I hope it encourages you to be bold, to shine bright, to do the things that bring you joy. And in a world full of beige, don’t ever be afraid to be pink!
