The Gift of Hope

We are all hardwired for hope. Hope is what shapes our lives and directs our paths. We all place our hope in something, whether it be God, a philosophy, a career, a relationship, or a dream.

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for. (Hebrews 11:1)

Hope is what drives our faith, moving us to action. Without hope in a future, we would have no motivation to move in faith in the present. Hope, in a way, is a precursor to faith; without hope there can be no faith.

Hope is everything, really. Hope is what yields faith, and faith is our connection to God.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13)

Hope is a person, and His name is Jesus.

Our hope in God’s promises must become stronger than our struggles, our faith stronger than our fears. This is what leads to peace.

The truth is, we are all hardwired to want more than this life. We are hardwired as humans to be anxious and/or depressed; we are hardwired to be empty because we are hardwired to sin. It’s a constant battle so long as we are human. But the good news of the Gospel is that we are also hardwired for something bigger than our anxiety, fear, grief, despair, pain—hope, and His name is Jesus.
