The Gift of Peace: God is Bigger Than the Storm

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

The thing about life is this, as bleak as it may sound, no one gets out alive, and no one gets through it without their own share of hardships. It’s easy to look at someone and think their life is perfect when you really have no idea what they’ve been through, what they’re currently going through, or what they’ll go through in the future. The truth is, if you’re not going through a storm right now, one day not too far down the road, you will be.

God never tells us we will have it easy in this life; in fact, He tells us the exact opposite in John 16:33. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart, He says, for I have overcome the world. Everything you’re going through right now, everything you will ever go through, God has already overcome it all.

Though we will have storms, we don’t have to go through them alone. We get to go through the storm with God who is bigger than any storm we will ever have to face. That’s the peace I’ve been clinging to here lately—God is bigger than the storm—and I hope you find peace in that as well.
