A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh. (Proverbs 14:29)
I asked the Lord to perfect my heart
however He saw fit.
He told me I needed to learn tranquility
and then live in it.
.
What does it mean to be tranquil? I asked,
eager to learn His ways.
The tranquil heart doesn’t resist my teaching;
the tranquil heart obeys.
.
I’m ready to obey, You, Lord;
to please You is all I seek.
I long to have this tranquil heart,
so I pray that You will speak.
.
The tranquil heart moves through its pain
while using it to grow.
We can’t be tranquil and hold on to the past
instead of letting go.
.
The tranquil heart doesn’t cling to anything;
in surrender is where it lives.
The tranquil heart doesn’t stay angry;
it always forgives.
.
The tranquil heart refuses to envy;
it chooses to be grateful.
The tranquil heart isn’t bitter or resentful;
it’s not irritable or hateful.
.
The tranquil heart is free of addiction;
it depends on God alone.
It doesn’t seek to fill a void;
it simply desires to be known.
.
The tranquil heart is a peaceful heart
free from worry and strife.
The tranquil heart has perfect faith;
the tranquil heart gives life.
