The Gift of Celebration

There’s something that I need from you,

the Lord whispered in my ear.

I need you to set your pain aside

and fill your heart with cheer.

.

Cheer? I scoffed. For what?

I have nothing left to give.

Some days it’s difficult

even just to live.

.

That’s when He reminded me

of an undeserving fate.

An eternity in Heaven

is something to celebrate.

.

So how do we celebrate

a future we can’t see?

Faith in the promise—

that’s the key.

.

It’s not easy to celebrate

in the midst of all our pain,

but we have to remember

there’s no rainbow without rain.

.

I used to think that celebrating

was for birthdays and such.

That’s when the Lord showed me

it’s a sacrifice just as much.

.

A celebration is an offering

of worship to our King.

To have such joy in the midst of trials

is a beautiful thing.

.

My celebration is a gift to God

as much as it is to me.

God delights in every act of faith,

and our faith will set us free.
