I bought myself a little gift the other day, something I couldn’t resist—a soft knit sweater with different types of cats on it. I loved the sweater so much, I decided I had to recreate it on paper.
Cats get such a bad rap. People will often claim they are cold, aloof, and even vicious. The truth is though, when you learn to respect the animal for who it is, you’ll find that cats, though wildly independent, are actually very soft, loving creatures.
How often do you feel misunderstood? I’ve been called out for being too quiet, antisocial; I’ve even been called a snob. Like the cat, I too have been misunderstood. Only those who have taken the time to get to know me have been able to see who I really am. Maybe one reason why I’ve always been so fond of cats is because I relate to them in this way. It’s simple, really. Respect their boundaries, don’t put them on a leash, and love them for who they are; don’t expect them to be someone else, someone they’re not. If you can keep these very simple things in mind, you just might discover a side of cats (and myself as well) you never thought you would; you might discover that cats are absolutely purr-fect just the way they are.
