“There is nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline no matter how many times it is sent away.” unknown
I’ve always loved this quote. It reminds me of the type of love God has for us. No matter what we do, no matter how many times we mess up, or even reject Him, He continues to love us unconditionally.
Love is not a feeling; it is a choice, an action. Feelings are a product of love, but they change like the wind. They change depending on circumstances. They are not stable; they are not reliable. If someone is rude to me, I may feel negatively about them. Loving that person is choosing to treat them with dignity and respect regardless of how they treat me.
Successful marriages aren’t made up of two people who always feel in love, but instead, two people who simply refuse to give up on each other. Don’t get me wrong—there are justified reasons for divorce such as adultery or abuse, but the truth is, that’s not why most divorces happen. The decision to divorce is usually made by someone who claims their husband or wife doesn’t make them happy anymore. That’s the problem—people are so concerned with their own happiness when they should be focusing on making their spouse happy. Marriage is about selflessness. It is a representation of God and His church.
To know God is to know true love.
