I sat down down with my set of pastels and immediately felt a pull towards the row of beautiful blues. See blue is more than just a beautiful color; blue makes you feel something—whether it be a bright blue sky, a deep blue ocean, or even a vibrant blue peacock. Blue is beyond beautiful.
I picked up a deep blue pastel and began to draw one of my favorite birds, the peacock. Despite being such a beautiful bird, the peacock remains unattached to its outer beauty. It will shed its beautiful, colorful tail usually between late summer and early autumn. Molting can take up to several months, and this process allows them to grow their beautiful feathers back even longer and fuller. What can we learn from the peacock? When we are unattached to our outer beauty, we become even more beautiful—we become beyond beautiful.

The peacock knows
its beauty and grace.
What the peacock knows,
you cannot erase.
.
The peacock knows
it’s made from love.
The peacock’s beauty
comes from above.
.
If you decide to leave
the peacock behind,
she moves on with grace;
she doesn’t mind.
.
So let’s learn from the peacock
and remember this rhyme.
We are beyond beautiful
for all of time.
