Narrow is the path that leads to life, and few will find it. (Matthew 7:14)
Jesus tells us the path is wide that leads to destruction. It appears that the wide path is the easy path. The narrow path is paved with denial of self, hardships, and testing of your faith. But along with the trials and tribulation of the narrow path is beauty, perfect peace, and joy from the Lord.
As I walked the other day, I came across a narrow pathway defined by a tunnel of trees. It was one of my favorite parts of my walk that day.
The path of righteousness, just like the narrow path I walked across that day, is marked by safety. You’re secluded from the destruction, the chaos of the world, the traffic moving parallel on the main road. As I walked, I felt grateful for the shade the trees provided from the heat of the sun.
On the narrow path, there is peace. We don’t have to be anxious for tomorrow as we know the path we are on is paved by God Himself. It’s on this path we can let go of trying to figure out where the path leads; we can take our time and simply focus on the beauty that surrounds us.
